Three weeks ago I was in the Ardennes for a team building weekend organized by my employer. One of the first activities we did was a little game involving two persons trying to push each other out of a circle while holding the end of a tree trunk. In the first round my competitor was about 20 cm shorter than me and probably also about 20 kilo lighter so of course it was easy to push him out of the circle.
My second opponent however was a little taller than me standing about two meters tall and he was probably also a bit heavier. So my plan was to start pushing full force right away to maybe get some momentum like that. It actually worked and he had to step back about one meter. But then he started pushing hard and that”s when it happened I think : I broke my hand.
Although the doctors in the Ardennes first told me I needed to leave my hand in a cast for six weeks, this has now been reduced to four weeks. Only three days to go. Then I can finally get on my bike again and start losing some of the weight I undoubtedly put on these last few weeks. My goal : the winter triathlon in Wachtebeke. Last year I did very poorly there. I really want to do better and I think I have a chance this time to stay out of the bottom ten
